Luz Moreno Garcia, known by many as Lucy, went peacefully into the night after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Born in Big Spring, Texas November 27, 1927; Luz spent her final years in Wadsworth, Illinois being cared for by her son and granddaughter. She was an active member of the American GI Forum for many years, enjoyed exercising at the YMCA, and senior coffees at McDonalds. She loved to swim and dance, watch her grandson play hockey and her granddaughter swim. She was a proud employee of Abbott Laboratories and instilled the value of hard work on those around her. Loving and nurturing her whole life, she was always taking care of her family. Luz was a beloved Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother and friend. She is preceded in death by her husband Peter, her daughters Mary and Eileen, several sisters and a brother. Luz is survived by her pure-funk-non-stop powerhouse son Peter (Mary Jane) Garcia of Wadsworth, her handsome and funny grandson Patrick (Mara) Garcia of Cleveland, her dedicated and caring granddaughter Elizabeth Garcia of Kenosha and a big giant baby great grandson, Jonas Peter. Services will be held at the Church of Saint Patrick in Wadsworth, Illinois on Saturday October 15 beginning at 8:30 AM with a mass at 10 AM.
